About Us
We're an early-stage startup building a mobile app that delivers personalized, actionable sleep insights. We aggregate data from popular wearables and health platforms to give users a unified, intelligent view of their sleep. We're looking for a data scientist and ML engineer to turn that data into something genuinely useful.
About the Role
We're not reinventing sleep staging — wearables already do that. Your job is to take the data they produce, normalize it across devices, find meaningful patterns, and build the models and logic that power personalized insights and recommendations. You'll figure out what's actually worth telling users and how to help them improve.
What You'll Do
Build data pipelines that ingest and normalize sleep data from multiple wearable platforms (Fitbit, Apple Watch, Oura, Garmin, etc.)
Reconcile differences in how each device reports sleep metrics so users get a consistent experience regardless of hardware
Identify meaningful patterns and correlations in user sleep data over time (trends, anomalies, lifestyle factors)
Build models and logic for personalized recommendations and insights — the "so what" layer on top of raw data
Design and run experiments to validate that our insights are accurate and actionable
Work with our mobile engineer to deliver analytics efficiently via APIs
Stay current with sleep science research to inform what insights we surface and how
What We're Looking For
3+ years in data science, analytics engineering, or applied ML
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with data tooling (pandas, SQL, dbt, Airflow, or similar)
Experience working with messy, multi-source data and building normalization/ETL pipelines
Strong statistical thinking — you know how to separate signal from noise in behavioral data
Ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical teammates
Bonus: experience with health or wearable data, recommendation systems, or behavioral analytics
